When I first started my small business, I imagined I will be able to transform my condo room to a a pretty and aesthetics office in a year or so.

Now, I still don't have that aesthetics office I see in Pinterest. But instead, I am writing this blog in a messy bun with a coffee in my hand.

I thought I will be that entrepreneur who will be in my laptop in front of a beach somewhere while I wait for the money to come into my bank account.

Little did I know that I need to work hard for every peso that drops inside my bank account. Surprise! Small Business takes hardwork.

More importantly, I used to think that as long as I have beautiful product and post it in my small business, clients will start coming in.

Now I learned that a good product means nothing if I can't market anything properly.

The clients will not come infront of your door just because you want them to. YOU NEED TO GIVE THEM A REASON TO. YOU NEED TO ATTRACT THEM TO YOUR PAGE. YOU NEED TO PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE.

YOU NEED TO KNOW HOW TO MARKET AS A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER.

If you are lost where and how you can start, don't worry, I was too. I needed to figure things out one-by-one.

But, it took me years. Everything just clicked into place after I met an expert in marketing and branding.

If you want to get the step-by-step guide, buckle up and I'll walk you through it in 2 minutes.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE ON HOW YOU CAN START OPERATING YOUR BUSINESS

STEP 1: KNOW WHO YOU ARE; KNOW YOUR VALUE AND PURPOSE

In this step, you need to figure out what's your purpose and your brand values.

We do this in Queen Penguin class by giving the members a worksheet so they can list down the most memorable experience they have and the kind of value that they can extract from that.

All successful companies have a brand value to live by. Having a value to live by helps you stand out in the market, otherwise, you will just be just any other market.

Choose Kindness

I sufferred through a depressive episode early this year but I needed to pretend I am okay in front of the public. If someone is mean to me, I easily break and when someone give kindness, I feel so good. It's because even though I am dying inside, no one knew. It taught me that people are always fighting their own demon one way or the other. If we can remind us that everytime, we can choose kindness.

STEP 2: KNOW WHO YOU ARE FOR; FIND YOUR NICHE

You cannot and should not sell to everyone. For one, you have a very limited resource and so you need to preserve your resources. Be clear on who your target is. Then, find them and talk to them specifically in everything that you do.

You can do this by niching out and establishing your Unique Selling Preposition.

how to find your niche in order to stand out in the market

Instead of saying, "I am a skin care brand", be a "skin care brand that aims to give a mild and hassle-free routine for people who has no time to go over a 10-step program".

This way, you are very specific with what you offer and who you offer it to.

You probably want to speak to people who loves to take care of themslves but without spending 2 hours before they go to bed.

They can be entrepreneurs, moms or anyone who has a very busy schedule.

When you know them, you also know who they follow and where they hangout in social media.

Niching down help you stand out because you become purposeful with your strategies.

STEP 3: SETTING YOUR PRICE

Can you believe this, it is only after you know who you are and who you are for can you actually set your price.

Your price should not be the starting point of your strategy. It should be considered within the general context of your business strategy.

In this step, you need to have an understanding of your competition. Plot them. Maybe, you can see that there is a gap in the market for budget-friendly hassle free skin care brand. Then, you need to price higher than your competitors.

Quite a long process right?

This is actually halfway of the WHOLEEE process we prepared in our 8 week course for people who wanted to start their own business.
